| Greetings!
It has been a busy summer for us at FamilyTravel.com. We are reading, researching, and traveling, looking for trips, ideas and trends to share with other families interesting in vacationing together. Our crew has spent time this summer exploring the lakes of New Hampshire, the mountains and jungles of Peru, the beaches of California and Lynn is heading for a fly fishing adventure in Alaska next week. There is still time for great outings. Check out our last minute opportunities on our home page for some wonderful ideas!

Join Southwest Ed-Ventures for a unique eco- adventure. As part of the group you'll explore the archaeology of Chaco Canyon or conduct research at the Ute Tribal Park (often called The Other Mesa Verde) in southwestern Colorado . You can visit the Tribal Park September 19-25 for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to assist in preserving and documenting rock art and ruins essentially untouched since 1914. Many of the sites are in remote sections of the canyon few outsiders ever get to see.
Or visit Chaco October 11-16 to study its pre-history, how people lived their daily lives, the wonders of archaeoastronomy, attend the Park Service's evening sky programs, use their observatory, and visit rock art sites and ruins. Located across the southern boundary of Mesa Verde National Park in southwest Colorado, the relatively unknown canyon and archaeological gold mine called Mancos Canyon is the centerpiece of the Ute Mountain Tribal Park, containing more than 20,000 Anasazi/Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites and immense quantities of artifacts. The canyon also has numerous cliff dwellings, petroglyphs, solstice sites, and towers. Most of the sites are over 800 years old, and the rock art is over 1,300 years old.
Explorers with Southwest Ed-ventures will get a broader understanding of ancient lifeways, and won't be distracted by standing in long lines, crowds of tour buses, and limited access to the backcountry.
